Investigation Summary

On April 29, 2025, Coweta County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence on Carroll Street in Moreland following a 911 call reporting a criminal trespass incident.

The caller, the father of a 16-year-old female victim, contacted law enforcement after observing 25-year-old Austin Sweatman climbing through his daughter’s bedroom window via home security cameras. Deputies arrived promptly and located Sweatman hiding in a closet inside the residence. He was detained without incident.

Investigators determined that Sweatman and the minor had previously been in a relationship. Sweatman was found to have an active warrant out of Butts County, Georgia, and was transported to the Coweta County Jail, pending transfer to Butts County.

Subsequent investigation led to the discovery of sexually explicit content involving the minor, recorded and stored on both individuals’ cell phones. As a result, warrants were obtained for Sweatman on charges of Child Sexual Exploitation.

After answering to his existing charges in Butts County, Sweatman was transported back to the Coweta County Jail on September 23rd 2025 to face the newly issued warrants.

The investigation is ongoing. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
