Investigation Summary

New Information obtained by NCST shows that the investigation into Harlan began in late May of 2025 when a Cyber Tip was received from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Investigator’s executed a search warrant on Harlan’s address in Coweta County. Investigators then learned that Harlan had moved to a residence in Carroll County and a search warrant was executed there.

Records indicate that members of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation on July 1st, 2025 regarding Brody Dean Harlan, 23, of Carrollton, GA.

As a result of this investigation, on July 28th, 2025, Harlan was arrested and booked into the Coweta County Jail on the following charges:

As of July 30th, 2025, records indicate Harlan remains in custody without bond.

The Grand Jury aforesaid, in the name and behalf of the Citizens of the State of Georgia, charge and accuse BRODY DEAN HARLAN with the offense of Sexual Exploitation of Children (O.C.G.A. 16-12-lOO(b)(8)) in that the said accused, in the State of Georgia and in the County of Coweta, on or about the 22nd day of May, 2025, did knowingly possess a digital file named SPOILER_mpreview.jpg, material depicting a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, to wit: said file contains images of a minor child’s hands and mouth touching the penis of an adult male, contrary to the laws of the State of Georgia, the good order, peace and dignity thereof.

Count 2 – Sexual Exploitation of Children  ( O.C.G.A. § 16-12-100(b)(5) )

The Grand Jury aforesaid, in the name and behalf of the Citizens of the State of Georgia, charge and accuse BRODY DEAN HARLAN with the offense of Sexual Exploitation of Children (O.C.G.A. 16-12-lOO(b)(5)) in that the said accused, in the State of Georgia and in the County of Coweta, on or about the 16th day of February, 2025, did knowingly possess with intent to distribute a digital file named SPOILER_mpreview.jpg, a visual medium depicting a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, as alleged in Count 1 of this indictment , contrary to the laws of the State of Georgia, the good order, peace and dignity thereof.

Bond Denied

Court records show that on September 30th, a hearing was held in which Harlan requested a bond to be released from confinement.

On October 9th, 2025, an order denying the bond was entered into the case proceedings. The court noted that Harlan was believed to remain a danger to the community.
