Investigation Summary

Investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit arrest an individual following a cybertip received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

In July 2025, ICAC Investigators were alerted to an explicit video involving a minor through a tip submitted to NCMEC. The content associated with this cybertip was particularly egregious in nature. Following a thorough investigation, 17-year-old John Karrels of Newnan was identified as the suspect. After securing arrest and search warrants through a Superior Court Judge, Investigators took Karrels into custody on October 1st, 2025.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case and the ongoing investigation, no further details will be released at this time. Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation develops.
