On October 31st, 2025, Investigators with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Unit were notified by the United States Secret Service that during an investigation, 27-year-old Sean McCarthy of Sharpsburg, admitted to possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material.

As part of the Forensic Partner Program, Coweta County Sheriff’s Office was notified.  Investigators conducted a thorough investigation into these admissions, resulting in arrest warrants being obtained for McCarthy on charges of Child Sexual Exploitation. On November 19, 2025, McCarthy was taken into custody at his residence. During the execution of a search warrant, multiple electronic devices were recovered.

This investigation remains active, and additional charges are possible.
